This little display cake was inspired by the many shapes and textures of fungi, made only with a dresden tool, ball tool, and a bit of edible petal dust. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Alexandra Knight.

I had so much fun bringing this magical pumpkin carriage to life for a 2nd birthday. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

These sweet little pups were sculpted out of gum paste and used as the topper for a tiny elopement cake. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

This was my first ever display cake, a joyful experiment with isomalt. Many people thought it referenced the Market Theater Gum Wall in Seattle, but it was actually inspired by the sculptor, Brian Rochefort. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

I had arguably too much fun sculpting this brown trout out of cake, and I loved seeing people react when I delivered it. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

I’ve sculpted many characters out of sugar, but Frodo and Gandalf may be my favorites. Created for a Bag End cake at Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

I loved making and styling the sugar flowers on this moody and modern black cake. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

Cute creatures are among my favorite things to sculpt, and flying farm animals are some of the most amusing. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.

This is one of my favorite display cakes that I worked on with my former co-worker, Becca Calvert. Becca created a beautifully embossed patchwork canvas for me to paint with a watercolor effect. We each spent many hours making tiny roselings and hydrangeas, which we then styled together. A true team effort! Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Alexandra Knight.

It took a lot of practice and experimentation, but I love making gumpaste roses now. Created for Honey Crumb Cake Studio. Photo by Chrissy Gordon.
